POST early for Christmas at The Fernhurst Centre for a special ‘Scouts mail’ delivery in and around the village.

Fernhurst Scouts were out in force at the internet hub and village café on Saturday, to launch their annual Christmas card delivery scheme at the centre’s busy and successful gift fair.

For the fifth year running, village scouts have teamed up with counterparts in Liphook to offer hand delivery of Christmas cards in the two villages for just 25p.

Any card can be posted in the big red box in the Fernhurst Centre, or on the corner outside Crossways Fruiterers, for delivery on December 16.

Fernhurst Scouts leader Sue Gibbon said: “Last year the two groups delivered over 2,500 cards, raising funds for both groups and having fun at the same time. The scheme covers the whole of Fernhurst and Liphook and surrounding area – that’s not bad for 25p a card.”

Visitors were welcomed to the fair in Vann Road with complimentary coffee and cake from the centre’s Village Café and could snap up 2018 Fernhurst Christmas cards, featuring beautifully painted views of the area, plus other Christmas scenes.

The 2019 village calendar was also on sale and there were plenty of ideas up for grabs for early Christmas presents, including the centre’s own line of scarves and pashminas and jute shopping bags, as well as silver jewellery, decorative glass and Tiny Bear children’s accessories.

Centre manager Pauline Colcutt, said: “This year’s fair has been busier than ever, as we have become well-known more widely to those who attend our IT courses. We now offer a wide range of language courses and other activities.

“We are taking bookings for Christmas craft workshops, including felt-making and how to make Christmas wreaths and garlands.

“It is going to be a busy festive season at the centre.”
