THE row over the political future of a Lib Dem Waverley borough and Farnham town councillor suspended after breaching the town council's code of conduct raged on unabated this week, as further calls came for his resignation from Waverley. The leader of the Waverley Conservatives David Harmer, has put forward a motion calling for Victor Scrivens, the portfolio holder for housing, to be removed from the cabinet. It follows a call for his resignation from Farnham Town Council at the end of last year during his four-month suspension from the council. Mr Scriven's punishment came after he was found guilty by the Standards Panel for England of failing to disclose a personal interest and failing to withdraw from a council meeting when a matter in which he had a prejudicial interest was discussed. He was also judged to have improperly sought to influence a decision on the matter. The motion "that Cllr Scrivens should no longer be a member of the executive" is set to be discussed at a special council meeting on Monday, when Waverley councillors will also decide whether to transfer the council's homes to a housing association or create an Arms Length Management Organisation, ALMO. The executive committee will be immediately followed by a full council meeting which is preceded by a public question time beginning at 6-30 pm The official motion calling for Mr Scriven's resignation came after Tories put pressure on the Lib Dem leader of Waverley Council, Chris Slyfield, last month to sack the councillor from his high profile housing post.
