HIGHWAYS England is trying to trace the original owners of two properties which were bought under compulsory purchase orders when the A3 was diverted for the Hindhead Tunnel construction.

The two, Lone Pine, Bramshott Chase and The Spinney, Hindhead Road have now been declared surplus to requirements.

Under Crichel Down Rules the highways authority must offer back surplus land to the former owner or the former owner’s successors before it is put on the open market.
