MOTORISTS are advised that the Shepherd and Flock roundabout is set to undergo further roadworks, with a seven-week facelift beginning on Monday, March 13. Work will consist of planing and resurfacing the existing carriageway, replacing all road markings, and installing safety fencing and waterproofing to subways structures. Surrey County Council (SCC) will be starting highway maintenance works at the A31 as part of an ongoing programme, designed to improve Surrey's road network. While the total duration of the works is anticipated to last some seven weeks, the resurfacing work is scheduled to last three weeks, with safety fencing and parapet work starting on April 3, taking a further four weeks. The work will be done under lane closures, but so as to avoid inconvenience, it will all take place at night between 7-30 pm and 6 am. A SCC spokesman said: "The aim of this work is twofold. It will improve the structural strength of the existing carriageway and increase its life. At the same time, it will make journeys safer for vehicles using the roundabout." "SCC would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience this work may cause, but will be making every effort to minimise disruption," it concluded. Farnham is currently undergoing something of an asphalt overhaul, with a six-week sewage pipe replacement programme occurring at the Shepherd and Flock last November, and an ongoing 21-week gas pipe replacement scheme in Hale, which is set to finish in June. Further information about the forthcoming roadworks can be obtained from the Surrey County Council contact centre on 08456 009 009.
