FARNHAM is set to be plunged into traffic chaos next week after Thames Water confirmed a two-week
closure of Downing Street for emergency sewer repairs.
Drivers using Hickleys Corner will be particularly
affected, with long queues expected in Station Hill,
South Street, Victoria Road and Approach Road as drivers negotiate their way through the town.
Thames Water says a collapsed sewer beneath
Downing Street is to blame for the closure, which will
take place between Ivy Lane and The Borough
from Tuesday, May 28, to Friday, June 10.
However, the utility company has warned that the repairs may take longer.
The closure is expected to cause widespread disruption to motorists, businesses and bus services in the town‚ particularly on Saturday, June 1, when it
will clash with the Farnham Maltings' monthly market.
