LOWER Bourne Social Club recently presented a cheque for £688 to Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care.

The money was raised by the club throughout 2017, after members decided that each year they should fundraise for a nominated charity.

Chairman John Morris said: “We are a local club with the majority of our members living and working in the Farnham area, so we think it right that we support local charities.

“We raised the money by way of raffles, which were held at the club on evenings when we provided entertainment for our members.

“All of our members agree that this has been a successful project and long may it continue.”

The club is a small, friendly destination situated in Lower Bourne and is affectionately known as ‘The Shed’.

Charli Quay-Barnham, community fundraising manager at Phyllis Tuckwell, said: “We are delighted that the Lower Bourne Social Club chose Phyllis Tuckwell as its nominated charity in its inaugural fundraising year.

“£688 could pay for nearly five days’ worth of care from one of our physiotherapists, whose advice and support can help improve patients’ quality of life and assist them to remain as independent as possible through all the stages of their illness.”
