CARING?children from Petersfield Infant School and their families have been busy on the run up to Christmas.

Pupils at the St Peter’s Road school have been collecting shoeboxes for the Link To Hope charity.

The shoeboxes will travel thousands of miles to reach a destination in eastern Europe.

The children attended an assembly to find out all about Link To Hope and then, to kick-start the annual appeal, each class at the school packed a shoebox for a family. This meant that all children were able to be involved.

In the following few weeks, more and more shoeboxes arrived at school, and the final total of 170 filled shoeboxes was a new record for the school.

Once all the shoeboxes were collected, the Year 2 children then helped to load them onto the lorry for the next step of their journey.

Allyson Crew, headteacher at Petersfield Infant School, said: “We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of the parents and children this year. It will be a hard record to beat!”
