COUNCILLORS have thrown the book at an architect for proposing to build a "monstrosity" on the site of a former shop in Liss.

It's fair to say that Liss Parish Council isn't impressed with the latest plans to develop the vacant plot at 10 and 12 Station Road.

The sale of land off The Mead earmarked for access has forced developers to rethink their plans for the former Spar site.

An application to build a pair of homes in a similar style to nearby buildings is one of two separate plans submitted by GMDesigns.

But while councillors liked some of the features, they had nothing positive to say about their second application for a small shop, flat and house.

"It's a monstrosity," said councillor Sue Halstead.
