A MAN has been sentenced to seven months’ imprisonment after pleading guilty to a string of thefts from shops across the county.

Twenty-three-year-old Nathan Taylor pleaded guilty to seven offences committed over several months, including the theft of cigarettes and DVDs from WH Smith in Haslemere on August 17.

Taylor, of Chineham, Basingstoke, appeared at East Surrey Magistrate’s Court in Redhill, where he admitted stealing:

Fifteen copies of a video game from Game in Guildford ,

Cigarettes and DVDs from W H Smith in Haslemere on August 17;

An Xbox from Argos in Farnham

DVDs from Sainsburys in Chertsey and Asda in Woking and WH Smith in Epsom.

The crimes were commtted between March and September.

Pc Rebecca Thomson said: "Taylor targeted various stores across the county, taking large numbers of DVDs and video games and leaving without paying.

“Through a number of enquiries, and from people coming forward who recognised him in various CCTV images, we identified Taylor as the suspect and he was arrested.”
