ARMED police officers were called to Farnham on Tuesday, following reports of a man with a shotgun in the town.

Surrey Police responded to the incident following a call from a member of the public of a man on foot in Dollis Drive, carrying a shotgun in his right hand, at around 1.20pm.

Following a search of the area by armed response officers, a man matching the description given was stopped and searched.

Officers established that he was carrying a meter reader and was working in the area.
