ALDERSHOT Town have confirmed that they made a "substantial" offer for Craig McAllister, Basingstoke's highly rated forward who has scored 27 goals this season.
However, Basingstoke promptly turned down the bid for their star striker who has attracted the interest of Nationwide League clubs.
Terry Brown will continue his search for a proven striker and hopes to announce a signing early next week.
"I'm looking at various players," said the manager. "The fact is that we're not taking a high enough percentage of our chances. If you look at the Ryman League top ten of goal-scorers, we haven't a single player there. That suggests we need a sharper cutting-edge."
Hendon and Aldershot will play their outstanding fixture on the last Thursday evening of the season, May 1.
