MANAGER Kevin Dillon has strengthened his squad with a flurry of signings ahead of the League Two opener at Accrington Stanley on Saturday.

Two of the four newcomers are centre-backs, Dillon recruiting former Bristol City player Clayton Fortune, 27, and 20-year-old Aaron Morris from Cardiff.

He has also signed wingers Wade Small, 26, who played against the Shots twice last season for Chesterfield, and Jermaine McGlashan, 22.

McGlashan played for Staines Town, Bracknell Town, Kingstonian and Merstham before joining Ryman League Premier Division side Ashford Town last December.

All the newcomers have signed one-year contracts.

"It was just a matter of the finances," said Kevin Dillon. "I've been backed by the board again and by Peter Duffy (chief executive) which has been great."

McGlashan impressed the manager during a spell on trial at Aldershot. "After 20 minutes on Wednesday, I knew I was going to sign him," said Dillon. "He's just got something there and I feel we can work with him."
