SHOWSHACK Dance and Theatre School has celebrated outstanding exam results for its London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) drama students this term.
LAMDA students worked to complete their graded exams and achieved record results, with all students obtaining either a merit or distinction.
Of the 60 students who entered, 65 per cent passed with distinction, ranging from entry level grade one to gold medals in solos, duos and groups in musical theatre and acting.
Pauline Thomson, Showshack principal, said: “We are so proud of all our students who have achieved such fantastic results in this latest round of LAMDA acting and musical theatre exams.
“LAMDA results were some of the best that Showshack has ever seen in our 20 years of providing drama and musical theatre exams.
Particular congratulations go to Aurelia Antrobus, Lily Matthews, Mackenzie Abrook, Munira Meyer, Libby Macintyre, Meg Cowley and Isla Codling who achieved incredible marks of more than 90.”
Solo, duo and group LAMDA sessions are held at the Showshack studios, St Polycarp’s, Waverley Abbey, Weydon School and Lord Wandsworth College throughout the week. These sessions provide guided learning and development culminating in an exam.
The main aims of LAMDA exams are to build creativity, imagination, performance skills and clear expression.
They are useful for everyone, from those who want the confidence to raise their hand in class to those who are seasoned young performers. All higher level LAMDA exams are accredited and give equivalent points towards GCSE, A-Level and UCAS.
n Tomorrow (Friday), Showshack is hosting the Showshack’s Got Talent final at 7pm at Weydon School. Easter holiday workshops will then be held at Bourne Hall Studios in Farnham on April 9-11, followed by Showshack’s Elite Theatre Group’s performance of Fame at the Medici Theatre, Weydon School, on May 18.
