SHOWSHACK Dance and Theatre School principal Pauline Thomson, who founded Showshack in 1995, was delighted and honoured to be invited to dance at the London Palladium on Saturday in ‘A Tribute to Dame Vera Lynn’ celebrating her 100th birthday.
For one night only, to celebrate Dame Vera’s 100th anniversary and raise vital funds for the Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity, stars of stage and screen came together to perform a variety extravaganza celebrating her life.
Pauline joined 74 other young and second generation dancers who reformed to create a special routine for the show. Pauline first worked in the Second Generation dance group in the 1980s, starring in Aladdin alongside Danny La Rue.
She went on to dance in various TV shows along side Bruce Forsyth, Mike Yarwood and many others and also appeared on screen as an actress in Beadles About, The Bill and Marmalade Atkins to name a few. She can still be seen in Boy George’s, Karma Chameleon video.
With a host of stars including Bradley Walsh, Aled Jones, Alexander Armstrong, Russell Watson, Brain Blessed and many more, 100, the tribute to Dame Vera Lynn was certainty an unforgettable one.
“It was such an honour and privilege to perform in front of The Queen at Dame Vera Lynn’s 100th birthday celebration,” said Pauline.
“The atmosphere at The Palladium was electrifying as a host of stars and performers from the Chelsea Pensioners down to young performing arts school students came together for this amazing evening in support of the Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity and a celebration of her life.”
