BOOKINGS are now being taken for Farnham’s first walking festival. The festival begins later this month but places are limited so Farnham Town Council is encouraging anyone who is interested to register as soon as possible.

“We have over 30 fantastic walks taking place during our festival from May 21 to 28. The walks are free to attend and we expect them to be popular so please do book in advance,” said Jill Hargreaves, the town council’s lead member for tourism and events.

“Walking is not only an excellent way to exercise, it is also the best way to see the gems that Farnham and our surrounding areas have to offer. Whether your passion is countryside and wildlife, history or local culture and heritage, you will find a walk to interest you.”

Full details of each walk, including the length and ability level, is available on the Farnham Town Council website at www.farnham.gov.uk. To book a place, simply visit the website and fill in the online form or call in at Breaking Free, Surrey’s only independently owned outdoor clothing and travel equipment shop based in The Borough.

The walks range from around 1.5 miles to 14 miles and each one is led by an expert or enthusiast. Participants are advised to dress suitably for their chosen walk and for the weather conditions on the day.
