SERVICES of Remembrance were held throughout Surrey and West Sussex, on Sunday, including the annual service at Haslemere's St Bartholomew's Church.

Afterwards hundreds turn out to pay their respects and to line the route of the parade to the High Street War Memorial.

Among the organisations alongside the Royal British Legion represented at Sunday's parade were Haslemere Town Band, Army Cadets, Air Force Cadets, St John Ambulance, and civic dignitaries including Haslemere Mayor Libby Piper (right) and Surrey High Sheriff Dr Helen Bowcock.

They were joined by many youngsters from Scouts, Guides, Cubs, Brownies and Beavers groups.

At the War Memorial, wreaths were laid representing the town's organisations and the Garden Of Remembrance set up by the town council was filled with small wooden crosses.

The two-minute silence observed at 11am was followed by the mayor reading the names of Haslemere's fallen servicemen, as commemorated on the memorial.
