THE mayor of Petersfield is preparing to reward the town's unsung heroes after receiving a special delivery.

Petersfield Herald owner Sir Ray Tindle presented the first batch of Mayor's Medals to George Watkinson on Monday.

The medals, which carry a representation of the iconic statue in The Square, will be handed out to the town's unsung heroes and selfless volunteers for their outstanding work.

The first winners of the Mayor's Award for Service to Petersfield will receive their medals on April 30.
