SISTERS Georgie and Jo Linscott from Farnham will walk 45km across the South Downs on May 12 to raise funds for vital research into brain tumours, inspired by their dad Ben, who was diagnosed with a Grade 4 brain cancer last summer.

Georgie, 27, and Jo, 30, alongside a group of friends, will be raising vital funds for The Brain Tumour Charity, the UK’s leading charity dedicated to fighting this devastating disease, by taking part in the Just Walk charity challenge.

The 45km route will take the group through the rolling hills and landscape of West Sussex, including the South Downs National Trail. So far, the group have raised more than £7,200.

Georgie said: “I am really looking forward to taking part in this challenge for such an important cause. Our dad has always loved walking and exploring the countryside so this felt like the perfect challenge for us to take on.

“We feel extremely lucky to be surrounded by a wonderful group of friends, who are also keen to join us. Together, we’ve done a few practise walks - we are quickly learning how important a comfy pair of socks!

“We have been totally overwhelmed by the amount already raised – I guess that’s what happens when you have such a wonderful dad!”

Having smashed their initial target of £500, Georgie and Jo are aiming to raise as much as they possibly can for The Brain Tumour Charity through their online fundraising page https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/georgieandjo.

The Just Walk challenge has distances to suit everybody and registration fee ranges from £15 to £80. For more information or to sign up, visit the charity’s website www.just-walk.co.uk/event-details/ .
