SIX candidates are in the running to secure the £85,000-a-year job as Hampshire's first police and crime commissioner.
The election for the new post takes place on November 15 and the successful candidate will take up office on November 22.
This is part of a nationwide series of elections which will result in the replacement of local police authorities with the commissioner who, in this county, will oversee policing in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
The commissioners will not run the police, but will be responsible for holding the chief constable to account on the public's behalf.
