BOHUNT Sixth Form is holding its first open evening for students, parents and members of the community tonight.

Sixth form head Clare Hodgson said: “We are absolutely delighted to be opening the doors of the sixth form for the first time, to the local community. Our open evening will be a brilliant opportunity for prospective students and parents to come along and see for themselves what the college has to offer, from the state-of-the-art building and amazing facilities, to the boundless extra-curricular activities and opportunities.

“We are so excited to be welcoming students to the sixth form in September, and look forward to working closely with them and supporting them to achieve highly and widely.”

The open evening is behing held on Monday, June 26, from 6.30-8.30pm.

Bohunt claims that the state-of-the-art college, located on the school site, will see the innovative educational offering already in place at the school, continuing through to the sixth form as well as offer personalised, university-style learning and an extensive curriculum, providing students across the local area with high-quality education provision, preparing them for life at leading universities and beyond.

Small class sizes will reflect typical university study groups and teaching hours to provide in-depth and critical understanding of subjects, the school will also be working in partnership with industry and university partners, to ensure students have the skills needed to succeed in the workplace.

Neil Strowger, chief executive of Bohunt Education Trust (BET) which set up the new tertiary facility, added: “At BET, we have listened to students and designed our trust’s first sixth form building, pathways and student experience for learning based on students’ needs and wants.

“The new build has allowed us to create a learning community which prepares our students for their futures. We are delighted Bohunt sixth form will soon be welcoming its first students.”

The purpose-built building occupies three floors, and is tailored to meet the needs of A-Level students and the bespoke curriculum on offer. There are four undergraduate-style science laboratories, equipped with modern apparatus and “idea walls”, which encourage student creativity.

Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the computer science room, which contains high specification computers, tailored to the needs of science and photography students, as well as the designated visual arts room with individual creative work spaces.
