MORE than 60 enthusiasts enjoyed the free skate, BMX and scooter workshops at Haslemere skate park hosted by Waverley Borough Council earlier this month.

A total of 270 fans took to Waverley’s skate parks in Godalming, Farnham and Cranleigh from a Monday to Friday to show off their skills at this summer’s #SkateWaverley events.

The sessions helped riders of all levels and abilities, aged seven to 16, to take their skills to the next level, thanks to event sponsors Places for People, Groundworks and Carriers for Causes.

Waverley Mayor Councillor Simon Inchbald, said: “The skate park workshops were excellent and it was great to see so many young people taking part – they were having so much fun and it was infectious.

“Everyone who took part had some coaching, saw some amazing stunts performed by the pros and took part in a competition with prizes, including skateboards and t-shirts.

“This year we had a lot of younger children who had never used the skate parks before. They had great fun finding out how to use the ramps and do some basic tricks.
