BOOK week took on a magical theme for children at Northchapel Primary School last week when the school became a Hogwarts School of witchcraft and wizardry with some exciting visitors paying a flying visit (more pictures on page 7).

The fun started on Monday when the school pupils could dress up as their favourite magical characters and year eight students from Midhurst Rother College and a science teacher visited for a magical assembly of potions and bangs.

On Tuesday, students from the University of Surrey Harry Potter Society flew in to give pupils a lesson in Quidditch in the playground, and the children came to school dressed in home clothes for Forest School and an art workshop.

Before school on Tuesday, its Breakfast Club became Books for Breakfast with pancakes served and a story shared before going into class, while a Sleepy Storytime event on Thursday evening was funded by the PTA.

Meanwhile an after school book fair allowed pupils to stock up on favourite reads and Friday was Gruffalo Fun Day for the children in Little Oaks Pre-school.
