A BORDON soldier was assaulted by three men when he tried to stop them vandalising a phone box at Liphook station last Saturday evening.
The soldier, from the School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, suffered a broken leg in the assault.
In a statement from SEME, The Herald was told that the soldier, who was with a friend at the time of the incident, asked the three men to stop vandalising the phone box.
The men refused and turned on the soldier. Two of the men assaulted the soldier while the third distracted the soldier's friend.
At the time of the assault the soldier believed one of his legs had been badly bruised, but following an X-ray on Sunday, it was discovered that his leg was broken.
Whitehill police attended the incident last Saturday evening, but the incident is now being dealt with by British Transport Police CID officer Ds Steve O'Neil.
Anyone with any information about the attack should contact Ds O'Neil on 020 7 233 8449, or Whitehill police on 0845 045 4545.
