LOCAL solicitor Karen Mackie, who fell victim to a fraudsters’ scam, has asked us to point out that she has not been struck off, as incorrectly stated in this week’s Farnham Herald.

Mrs Mackie has in fact only been suspended from practising after the ’vishing’ scam which led to client account money being transferred to what she thought were safe accounts with NatWest. She is perfectly entitled to reapply for her solicitor’s certificate.

The persuasive fraudsters have been targeting numerous solicitors’ firms up and down the country and Mrs Mackie has not been the only one to have fallen victim. The police are currently undertaking a nationwide investigation into the scam.

We would like to apologise to Mrs Mackie for this error.
