THE Japanese composer-pianist Motoki Hirai will be giving a solo piano recital at Farnham United Reformed Church on Saturday, February 27, at 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £7 and are available on the door. Motoki Hirai has been performing world-wide and this recital will be repeated at the Barbican Centre on Thursday, March 3, and will mark the beginning of Motoki’s world tour including London, Amsterdam, Vienna, New York and Tokyo.

This charity concert marks the fifth anniversary of the earthquake and Tsunami in Japan with proceeds being donated to the Tohoku Earthquake Fukushima Orphans Fund.

It is a cause for which Motoki has already donated more than £80,000 through more than 30 concerts.

Highlights include a world premiere of Hirai’s new composition featuring traditional Japanese poems ‘Hyakunin-Isshu’ as well as pieces by Beethoven, Schubert and Chopin.
