A WARNING that Waverley Council could find itself "in special measures" if too many developers win planning appeals over major planning applications it has refused has received short shrift from councillors representing Farnham. Ignoring a shot across the bows from a senior council officer, the borough council's western planning committee has overwhelmingly rejected plans to build 14 homes on sports facilities at Farnham Sixth-Form College, against the recommendation of planners. Waverley development control manager Elizabeth Sims urged the committee, before it discussed the application, to heed the risk of being designated as "poor performing" by the Government.
