SOARING temperatures and world-class flying displays from the Red Arrows, Eurofighter Typhoon, Chinook, The Blades, and many more, plus supercars ancient and modern on the Top Gear track, made the 13th annual Wings and Wheels at Dunsfold Park last weekend, one of the best yet.
Headlining the aerial action both days, the Red Arrows thrilled with “The Detonator”, flying close formation 820mph at 100ft and 6G.
Literally “tearing” through the sky, the RAF Eurofighter Typhoon, the world’s most powerful multi-role combat aircraft came a close second.
The arena rocked to mock explosions and gunfire as the Apache Attack Helicopter Display Team demonstrated its power and might, while a dog-fight demo from the two-seater Spitfire PV202 and Hispano Buchon Messerschmitt showed just how skilled pilots were in the Second World War.
Some rare supercars blasted down the runway in the Wheels Zone motoring demonstration and Brooklands Museum mounted a display of more than 150 choice cars in the motoring paddock.
The wartime history of Dunsfold Aerodrome was screened in the Military Zone, where Second World War re-enactors also thrilled visitors.
The Stunt Zone staged two and four-wheeled hair-raising performances from Wheelie Joe and Mission Motorsport.
Dunsfold Park event director Jamie McAllister said: “It was a spectacular weekend with first-class air displays, including a number of new displays not seen before, a host of rare and vintage cars in the Wheels Zone for the petrol heads, and lots to see and do in the arena.
“The success of the show is down to all those who work so hard in the lead-up to and during the event along with our visitors who support the show so enthusiastically by joining us over the weekend.
“We had a great show and are looking forward to doing it all again on August 25 and 26, 2018.”
