THE Frensham Sponsored Ride at Stockbridge Farm in Tilford, raised a staggering £17,500 for a number of different charities including Phyllis Tuckwelll Hospice.

Despite April showers Sunday, April 17, hailed bright and sunny day to welcome horses and riders from as far as Kent, London, Croydon and as near as Farnham.

More than 500 steeds of all shapes and sizes vaulted and cat jumped over 40 jumps, enjoying the 10-mile scenic route over private land and Frensham Common.

Additional entertainment was offered to dog handlers round a mini-agility course with rewards of a rosette and ‘bonio’. A ‘Ride with Confidence’ course offered the less experienced riders a taste of exciting show conditions offering time and space to attempt less challenging jumps.

All money raised will go towards a number of local charities including Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice, Macmillan Cancer Support, British Heart Foundation (Guildford), Surrey Air Ambulance, Farnham Scouts and Waverley Borough Council for the upkeep of bridleways.

The committee wishes to offer their sincere thanks to all the helpers, course builders, stewards, landowners Mr and Mrs N Morland and Miss H Clarke, and local authority, all of whom enabled the team to achieve such a successful event.
