STREAM Farm Close in Lower Bourne became Scream Farm Close for a few mad hours last Friday, as residents and their friends staged a Hallowe'en street party in aid of Children in Need.

Youngsters who had spent weeks practising a dance to Michael Jackson's Thriller were themselves thrilled to have their performance filmed by the BBC, hopefully for broadcasting during the Children In Need programme.

The close was decked with bunting and fairy lights and the whole street had rallied under chief organiser Irenie Phillips to lay on hot food, Pudsey cookies, pumpkin pie, cobweb cakes and I Scream cones.

Pudsey's 'sister', Pudzerella, mingled with witches, ghosts and ghouls taking part in sideshows including a trick or treat lucky dip, album covers quiz, guess the number of sweets in the jar and a raffle.

Ghost stories from a very scary Gilly Stewart added to the excitement.

Thanks were due to the Hedgehogs, who both provided and erected their marquee for serving food and helped manage traffic on the night.

Generous customers partying at the nearby Fox pub, where the 'Chillers' performed again in the garden, contributed more than £116, bringing the total raised to £556.

The youngsters are set to relive the fun on November 14, when representatives have been invited to the TV studios for the live Children in Need broadcast.
