THIS year’s planned Alton and District Sports Awards has been cancelled through lack of interest.

Due to be held in January to recognise the achievements of sports men and women, the awards ceremony has been called off after only five nominations were received.

Alton and District Sports Council chairman Brian Scowcroft said any late nominations should be sent directly to East Hampshire District Council for its sports awards ceremony on February 11.
