CONTENTIOUS proposals to halve the size of the sports hall at Farnham Sports Centre may not go ahead after all, after users convinced Waverley Council's portfolio holder for leisure that the space is vital to them.

The council, which is looking to spend around £4m on a refurbishment of the 27-year-old centre, has already had to shelve proposals for a two-storey extension to the front of the centre, because ground conditions made it an expensive option.
