BORDON'S rundown sports pavilion is costing the town council more and more each year because it has passed its sell-by date, it was revealed on Monday.
At Whitehill Town Council's finance and policy committee meeting, clerk Linda Tiley explained that the council had spent more money on the maintenance of the pavilion this year than ever before.
She said: "The fabric of the building is beyond repair."
Mrs Tiley said that repairs to things such as the ceilings had been carried out on more than one occasion.
"It really is getting a bit critical now."
The town council plans to submit a major funding bid for a replacement sports pavilion on the Mill Chase recreation ground.
It was unsuccessful with a recent lottery bid but it intends to submit an application to the Football Foundation - jointly funded by Sport England Lottery Fund, the FA Premier League, the Football Association and the government - once the application forms are available.
Zoya Faddy said: "The pavilion has just passed its sell-by date."
