PETERSFIELD'S iconic landmark statue of William III could be under threat if the latest suggestion to open up The Square and close off Petersfield High Street at weekends ever gets the green light.

The statue of William of Orange has dominated the centre of The Square for almost 200 years, funded by William Jollife, one of Petersfield's founding fathers.
