GLOBAL campaign ‘Light It Up Blue’ was backed by employees at Squire’s Garden Centre in Milford, who raised funds for The Jigsaw Trust, last Friday.
Many iconic landmarks, including Guildford Cathedral, went blue in support of World Autism Awareness Day. At the Milford garden centre, staff members wore specially designed t-shirts and raised money for Jigsaw, which educates children and supports adults with autism at Dunsfold Park.
Garden centre manager Ricky Bowness said: “Squire’s chose The Jigsaw Trust as our charity of the year as they do such amazing things to support children and adults with autism. We are raising money for them throughout the year, and the ‘Light It Up Blue’ event was fantastic as it created a talking point, and encouraged our customers to find out more about the condition, and of course raised money for this worthwhile charity.”
Jigsaw Trust fundraising officer Steven Morgan said: “We are incredibly grateful to our friends at Squire’s for not only adopting Jigsaw as their charity of the year, but for helping us to raise awareness of autism.
“Over the past few months our pupils have enjoyed spending time at the garden centre and were delighted to be guests of honour for the opening of the Christmas Grotto. We are really pleased the Squire’s staff were one of the businesses dressing up blue in support of World Autism Awareness Day and we were also on hand to talk about autism and the work Jigsaw does.”
