COLOURFUL May Day celebrations got under way at St Mary’s C of E Infant School in Frensham on May 25.

As part of this special annual occasion, the playground was decorated with flowers and plants by parents ready for the crowning ceremony and parade.

Children voted for their May King, Queen and attendants in a secret ballot as a way to introduce them to the democratic process.

This year Tommy and Freya were elected as King and Queen, along with their four attendants George, Mae, Eleanor and William.

The crowning ceremony was followed by maypole and country dancing by each class, before children enjoyed a spectacular array of cakes brought in by parents.
