ST Peter’s School was delighted to retain the boys’ team and the overall Bell Cup in this year’s Farnham and Ash District Schools Cross Country Event, which saw 12 schools competing for the various team and individual events.

The races took place in Farnham Park and were supported by school staff, parents, friends and family dogs.

Karen Trafford, deputy head at St Polycarp’s, said: “There were 435 runners representing the district schools.

“It was such a good turnout especially as the event had been postponed because we were unable to secure first aid support back in March.

“We are so grateful to everyone who helped enable the cross country to take place, particularly the team from St John Ambulance.”

In the girls’ individual category, gold was presented to St Polycarp’s, silver to Wyke and bronze to Shawfield.

In the boys’ category South Farnham walked away with gold, St Polycarp’s with silver and Wyke with bronze.

South Farnham girls also stole first place in the girls’ team category, followed by St Polycarp’s in second and St Peter’s in third place.

Just beating St Polycarp’s in first place in the boys’ team category, was St Peter’s, with Waverley Abbey coming third.

The overall Bell Cup went to St Peter’s School, with St Polycarp’s proudly taking second and South Farnham stealing third place.

Sarah Marshall, deputy head at St Peter’s, said: “We were delighted to hold onto to both the boy’s team and the overall team cup.

“We know that our focus on the Daily Mile has had impact as we had a team of 70 children eager to compete.

“I think all schools would like to thank St Polycarp’s staff for their commitment to organising such a professional event, giving all children the opportunity to participate.”
