INVESTIGATIONS were still continuing this week into a multiple stabbing in the grounds of a Sleaford hotel last month.
The incident happened on Saturday, June 21, at an annual event, organised by the Lithuanian Association of Great Britain, to mark the summer solstice in woodland surrounding the Headley Park Hotel and left eight people, including one woman, with stab wounds.
Eleven Lithuanian men, from East London, were arrested as a result of the incident and were later released on police bail.
Police believe that the incident happened just before midnight when a small group of people - believed to be Lithuanians - attacked a larger group resulting in the stabbings.
The incident is now being investigated by the major incident team at Grosvenor House in Basingstoke by a team of 33 officers, being led by Detective Chief Inspector Dave Williams.
Detective sergeant Doug Utting, of Basingstoke police, who is part of the investigation team told The Herald this week that the Lithuanian men had now been rebailed until October.
ÒEleven people were bailed as a result of the incident and they were all asked to come back to a Hampshire police station last week,Ó he said.
ÒNine of the eleven turned up and they have now been rebailed until October 9. We will be actively looking for the two who did not appear at the police station.Ó
Det sgt Utting said that the policeÕs inquiries were still very much ongoing.
ÒWe need to establish exactly what happened to whom and by whom it was carried out,Ó he said.
ÒThere will be identification parades conducted and forensic tests to try and build a case against them.Ó
