THE Friends of Alton Station will hold their inaugural annual meeting next month.

It will be held in the Garden Room at Alton Community Centre on Thursday, October 13, at 8pm.

Friends of Alton Station was established to lobby and work in partnership to oversee improvements and conservation of Alton railway station and its environs. The group’s main project is saving the historic footbridge, but there are a number of other smaller projects that it is also involved in.

Overall, the aim is to ensure that the footbridge and the rest of Alton station are maintained and developed to suit the needs of passengers and visitors alike.

The meeting is open to the public.
