GYMNASTS from Farnham’s Stellar Gymnastics headed to the Guildford Spectrum to compete in the South East Regional Grades on March 24-25.

Two full days of competition saw nearly 300 gymnasts take to the apparatus, hoping to pass their National Development Pathway Grades.

Head of Stellar, Hannah Fox, said: “Our gymnasts and coaches prepare for this event for months ensuring we have done all we can to pass the various levels and so it really is a question of peaking at the right time.

“I am pleased to say that we have got it pretty much spot on this year and the gymnasts looked so ready on the competition floor.”

From grade two to grade six, Stellar gymnasts achieved 14 ‘passes’ and four ‘commended’, even though the mark had been raised this year.

Notable achievements include Mia Hilton who finished tenth on vault in a very competitive grade five round, Sophie Raine who came sixth on vault at grade two, Riva Owen finishing ninth on floor and Tilly Smith achieving sixth place on vault and ninth place on range and conditioning at grade three.

Marissa Newell narrowly missed out on a rosette at grade three, finishing in seventh place overall.

She worked through an unfortunate injury to finish eighth on vault, fourth on beam, tenth on floor and received the highest score for range and conditioning.

Hannah added: “We’re seeing improvements year on year which is testament to the efforts and dedication of the gymnasts and staff here at Stellar.

“I hope all the gymnast look forward to coming back into the gym to learn lots of new exciting skills!”
