TAKING centre stage in her home village Milford was actress and TV presenter Dame Penelope Keith.

Reprising a role she has played for many years, Milford’s most famous resident – who starred as suburban snob Margo married to the long-suffering Jerry in The BBC comedy The Good Life switched on the Christmas lights at Witley Parish Council’s annual ceremony outside the village hall, and was presented with a bouquet in thanks.

Milford Baptist Church pastor Ian Forsyth joined St John’s Church curate Peter Hewson to lead the prayers and bless the village and the tree.

Milford Brownies and Guides led the carol singing and festive drinks and mince pies were served in the hall afterwards.
