WAITROSE supermarket has come up trumps, presenting a cheque for £471 to dementia-friendly Alton after customers supported the charity with green Community Matters discs.
Karen Murrell, a volunteer for the dementia group, said: “This generous donation will make a significant impact on the dementia-friendly activities provided within Alton and the surrounding area.”
Following the successful launch of Legions Legends last year at the Royal British Legion (RBL) Club, volunteers at dementia-friendly Alton have taken six former servicemen and their carers on a guided tour of the hangars at 2Excel, Lasham Airfield, followed by afternoon tea.
New dementia-friendly activities for September included interactive singing and music workshops at Orchard House and morning tea dances at St Mary’s Roman Catholic Church.
