THE Rajveer Convenience Store in The Street, Wrecclesham, has had its premises alcohol licence suspended after alcohol was sold to a person under the age of 18.
On Monday, June 9, Ajeet Singh Kapoor, from Middlesex, attended the hearing at Waverley Borough Council Chambers Court and the following decision was made:
The premises licence shall be suspended for a period of three months.
The current designated premises supervisor (DPS) Mr Kapoor shall be removed and a new designated premises supervisor must be appointed.
A personal licence holder shall be on the premises at all times when alcohol is being sold.
Waverley licensing officer Rab Carnie from Surrey Police said: “The store owner has disregarded their responsibilities as a licensee and only seemed to be concerned about making as much money as they could and ignoring the possible effects on the health and well-being of the young people that they were selling alcohol to.
“I would like to encourage the public to help us to help them by reporting incidents where underage alcohol sales are going on or other are buying alcohol for those under age.
“It is proven that the misuse of alcohol can cause anti-social in young people and businesses that have a licence to sell alcohol have a responsibility to ensure that the conditions of that licence and the law are upheld.”
If you know or suspect underage alcohol sales are taking place or others are buying for those underage report it to Surrey Police on 101.
