BUNTING and Union Jack flags swayed from the trees in Oakland Avenue in Weybourne last Saturday as families held a traditional street party to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday.

Everyone contributed a dish or two to the picnic and lively jazz music was played throughout the afternoon as children played games and even got to ride in a 90-year-old vintage car.

Janet Drummond, who helped organise the event, said: “It went really well and we were very lucky with the weather. Everyone sat outside and it was a lovely chance for everyone to speak to each other, including a family who only bought their house the day before!

“The children loved playing with balls, frisbies and zooming up and down the car-free road on their scooters, and it was a real treat when the vintage car arrived.”

Janet added her thanks to the town council for helping organise insurance and the road closure.
