ALTON trampolinist Stuart Sharpe has been selected for the Great Britain trampoline disability squad and is now on course to represent his country on the international stage.
Stuart, who is a member of Alton Trampoline Club, became a two-time British champion last year in the disability trampoline category one men’s event.
The 23-year-old from Holybourne had his first training session with the GB squad at the weekend.
Alton Trampoline Club head coach Mike Wakely said: “It’s a huge accolade and reward for Stuart’s efforts over the years.”
The focus of the squad will be preparation for international competitions, which are due to be arranged in 2018, and Dawn Lawson, national coach for disability trampolining, said Stuart’s inclusion was part of her “mission to have the best team in the world”.
A delighted Stuart said: “I want to give huge thanks to Alton Trampoline Club and everyone else who has helped make this possible.”
Earlier this year, Stuart was named Senior Disability Sportsman of the Year in the East Hampshire Sports Awards.
