STUDENTS who completed their GCSEs and other qualifications this year returned to Weydon for the last time as a year group on Thursday, November 30, for the annual presentation evening.
Weydon School’s ex-year 11 students attended with their parents, members of staff and governors to celebrate their success.
Jasmin Fisher and Sharon Thornton who were the Progress & Achievement Leaders for this year group, spoke of their pride in leading them through their journey at Weydon culminating in their recent exam success.
The ex-students were thrilled that Ms Fisher returned to the school as she has recently moved to Plymouth.
In addition to their GCSE certificates, a group of ex-students were awarded prizes for achievement in subjects and school awards.
John Winter, CEO of Weydon Multi Academy Trust (WMAT) and Peter Brinsden, chair of governors and WMAT presented the students with their certificates and prizes.
Mr Winter closed the evening with an inspirational message to the students to work hard towards their goals.
Matt Venton, deputy headteacher commented: “This has been a wonderful evening and gives all of us the chance to celebrate this year group.
“I am sure they will go on to be successful in any career they choose. We wish them good luck as they start their journey post-Weydon School.”
The event was hosted by Louisa Yapp and Harry Finch, head boy and head girl for Castle College.
