THE Alton College Students' Union has responded to criticism over litter on roads, verges and pavements surrounding the college by pledging to tackle it.

In response to a recent story in The Herald about the spring litter pick, which described college roads such as the Old Odiham Road, Edward Road and Linnets Way, as well as the Wootey's housing estate and Amery Hill School surrounds, as the most littered in the town, Student Union environmental officer Amy Giraudet has confirmed that the group will address the issue.

The students' actions will include an offer to play an active part in the next litter pick.

"Combating rubbish is on the Student Union's agenda for the year and we will aim to litter pick with a group of students outside the campus every half term," she said.
