YOUNG thespians at Weydon School were challenged to discover their inner-bards to mark the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare’s death.
Two theatre companies came to the school, ‘Splats’ for year seven and ‘The Guildford Shakespeare Company’ for year 10, building their confidence through workshops and creating a play within a day which they performed to their peers later in the day.
Year seven performed A Midsummer Night’s Dream and year 10 Macbeth.
Leigh Farrant from ‘Splats Travelling Players’, said: “The students at Weydon School were a fantastic audience for our show and really got into the spirit of the performance.
“We were very impressed at the hard work and creativity of the students, and staff, at Weydon and it was a real treat to be able to watch their performance at the end of the day.”
Various events are taking place across the UK in 2016 to mark the passing of England’s greatest playwright on April 23, 1616.
