To end the year nines’ activity week at Weydon School, the whole year group ventured out on a fundraising walk in aid of the charity Woodlarks.
They all met at Tilford Green for their picnic lunch and annual photo. The students battled against the heat and sunshine on the day but kept hydrated and thoroughly enjoyed the challenging walk.
Amy Diprose, one of the progress and achievement leaders for the year group, said: “I am so proud of all our students in year nine for completing the walk.
“The heat was the main challenge and all the groups completed the walk in good time and with a smile on their faces. We avoided the storms at the end of the day. It is an honour to be able to raise money for this local charity.”
A group of year nine Weydon students also took part in a ten-week ‘Bike Project’ earlier this summer. Working with experts Graham and Alan from The Surrey Bike Project, they learnt all about the mechanics of bikes before building their own from scratch.
The learning and skills the students developed through the project ranged from office and business skills to bike maintenance skills, leading to accreditation - plus their very own bike to take home.
