A GLOWING autumnal view taken by Jean Elliott, featuring 16th Century Keeper’s Cottage in the Devil’s Punch Bowl, was the winning entry in the Black Down and Hindhead Supporters of the National Trust 2018 photographic competition.
Second prize went to Anna Levene for her atmospheric leafy lane in the Black Down woods, and Sheila Keen came third with a snowy scene at Hindhead.
Group member Bob Daniels said: “We had a very good entry to the competition and the winning entries will be displayed in the window of our sponsors Raymond Reid Photographic in Haslemere High Street from Friday, February 1.
“We would like to thank all those who entered the competition and to comment that the standard was extremely high.”
The Black Down and Hindhead Supporters help the National Trust enhance its local properties by raising funds through subscriptions, donations, events and sales of publications.
In agreement with the National Trust, the funds raised are used to pay for any improvements budgets cannot cover.
The group also meet regularly with the National Trust management to advise on all aspects of management plans, local issues and opinion.
Its members act as the Haslemere ‘eyes and ears’ of the National Trust and help to promote goodwill.
The group send regular updates to supporters and organises an annual open meeting to report its activities.
