HOOK Schools Parents Association has had a year to remember.
At September’s annual general meeting, the chairman of HSPA, Richard Paganuzzi, presented Hook Infant and Hook Junior school with a cheque for £20,000, plus an additional £100 for each class.
The respective headteachers from each school, Melanie Walker and Lynn Martin, were present to receive the cheque.
The fantastic total has been put down to the “enthusiastic support” from parents and children for the events the HSPA organise each year.
Funds raised by the Hook Schools Parents Association are used to enhance and enrich the learning experiences for children at the Infant and Junior schools.
Donations from parents enable both schools to invest in learning resources that every child can benefit from.
A sample of these include text books that support the key aims of the curriculum, while helping children improve their basic strengths including English, grammar, spelling and maths.
The HSPA is run entirely by volunteers who either have children attending one or both schools.
As a registered charity it depends solely upon contributions from parents and carers in the community to raise funds to support the learning process in both schools.
Organising multiple fundraising events each year, including the summer and Christmas fairs, the next event to be held is traditionally the most popular.
The annual HSPA Fireshow is taking place on Saturday, November 5, in the grounds of Hook Junior School, where spectators will be treated to a fireworks spectacular.
Tickets are now on sale and for those interested in going, organisers have advised that savings can be made by purchasing tickets prior to the day of the event.
